Boudoir Photography Inspired Me to Love My Body More As It Is

It inspired me to love my body more as it is

I feel it is so important to share client testimonials as it allows others an inside view of what having a boudoir experience is like. This client did a session as a 35th birthday present for her husband. In the end she realized was also a gift to herself.

"SUCH amazing photos and so incredible that you continue to do this important work!
I did a shoot with you (was it 15 years?!?! ago?? It was for my husband's 35th or 40th and he's turning 50 this year!) and am so glad I did!!
It inspired me to be so much more comfortable in front of the camera and to love my body more as it is! I bow to you!"

Body Image Mindset

Body image is the way we perceive, think and feel about our bodies. It can be influenced by a variety of factors such as media, family, peers, and past experiences. We are groomed / taught from a young age that our self-worth is tied to our looks & our bodies. Unfortunately, many people struggle with negative body image and self-esteem, which can lead to a variety of mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, and eating disorders.
Societal standards are unrealistic and let's face it, are pretty unattainable. No wonder we are so hard on ourselves. The shame that we inflict on ourselves is cruel. I often hear "Once I lose the weight I'll be happy."  or "Once I can fit in to those jeans."

No. You. Won't.

The problem isn't our bodies. The problem is our mindset about them. Unless you change how you think, changing your body will not bring you the joy you so badly seek.

One way to improve body image and self-esteem is to shift one's mindset from a focus on appearance to a focus on health and well-being. This means accepting and appreciating one's body for what it can do, rather than how it looks. This can be accomplished through activities such as regular exercise, eating a healthy diet, and practicing self-care.

It's also important to recognize and challenge negative thoughts and beliefs about our bodies. This can be done by actively seeking out positive role models who promote self-love and body positivity, and by reframing negative thoughts with more positive, realistic perspectives.

Body Acceptance is A Journey

Body acceptance is a journey, not a destination. It's not always easy. We get stuck in the negative self talk loops, sabotaging ourselves. Try and give yourself some grace. You are NOT your body. You reside in your body.

Our bodies are constantly in flux, changing over time, adapting to meet our needs in that moment in time. It does incredible things for us, like dancing at your wedding, birthing a child, keeping us alive.

You don't always need to "love" your body, but you do need to learn to be nicer to yourself. When you begin to start seeing yourself differently, you'll start treating yourself differently.

When you are ready, I can help kickstart your confidence level and show you how worthy you truly are. Have specific concerns about booking a session? Let's talk about it!! I'm happy to answer any questions or concerns you may have. Click HERE to schedule a call.
